Copy Clip: How to come up with a great domain name - even if you're creatively challenged!July 31st, 2009 4 Comments
You’re not alone. Most people find it very difficult to come up with a new domain name – particularly for their own business. Even creative people (*coughs guiltily*).
The following series of screencasts will make it a lot easier for you. I promise. Watch me come up with a quality domain name – from scratch – for a hypothetical gardening business. (I cover a lot, and discuss why some domain names are good, while others are bad, so a couple of the screencasts below are fairly long.)
Whatever your business, and no matter how creatively challenged you are, if you follow the steps outlined here, you’re bound to come up with something good.
Step 1 – Think of some relevant words
Step 2 – Identify all the 2-word combinations
Step 3 – Find out which 2-word combinations are available as domains
Step 4 – Refine based on gut feel and ‘user-friendliness’
Step 5 – Refine even more
Step 6 – Choose your favourite
